Open 2-stage competition (18 entries), 3rd prize
The competition task was to design infill consisting of large-scale public buildings in the Kuopio bay area around the existing concert hall. The brief called for a new art-oriented secondary school, a hotel and congress center as well as housing. The aim was to create a high quality active cultural axis and thus also improve the connection between the market square and the lakeside. The lakeshores and parts of the lake itself were included in the competition area.
