The aim was to develop the site of the existing central hospital, built in the 1970s, into a modern and versatile wellness centre. Primary and secondary care activities would be integrated within the same buildings and the beautiful site would be developed with sports and other leisure activities in mind. The most important new building would be the ”hot hospital” where all the technically most demanding elements of the hospital would be located. The plinth of the old hospital would be developed into a flexible modern outpatients’ centre.
