Kilonpuisto School in Espoo contains all the three levels of the Finnish comprehensive school system. It also has an inbuilt unit for children with special needs. It is a central feature of the community that surrounds it, an activity centre open to users of all ages at all times of the day. Flexibility has been the key word when designing the complex. The central lobby can, with the help of movable walls, be connected to the dining hall, the stage area, the auditorium and the gym, thus creating a continuous, over 100m long open sequence of spaces.
