This new generation hospital will be built on the Ahvenisto hospital campus in Hämeenlinna. The area has seen the whole development of modern hospitals starting with a tuberculosis sanatorium built in the 1920s. The aim is to create a new kind of all-in healthcare service centre that promotes co-operation between different users and is based on patient centeredness. Apart from all the medical services the complex also includes a supermarket and other commercial facilities.
