Helsinki Eastern Harbour

International invitational competition, 1st prize

Subtle infill of former harbour areas on the eastern shore of Helsinki. Innovative housing types accentuate the maritime character of the area. Studies of building types suitable for the sea shore and outdoor spaces by the water were studied. The archipelago which was there before industrial times was partially revived in the competition entry. The new artificial islands and the channels between them helped to maximize the production of new dwellings with sea views.
